Training Philosophy
Core principles that guide our approach
Concurrent training (combining endurance and strength) requires deliberate coordination to manage the interference effect. Research shows that combining both modalities produces ~15-20% more systemic fatigue than either alone. The key to successful hybrid training is phase alignment: when endurance volume is high, gym volume is low, and vice versa. This prevents cumulative overreach while allowing meaningful progress in both domains. Principles: - Endurance and gym phases are inversely correlated in volume - The gym gets its biggest training window during endurance base phase - As endurance intensity increases, gym shifts to maintenance - Interference is highest between lower-body gym work and running/cycling - Swimming has minimal interference with gym training - Session ordering matters: endurance before gym on same-day doubles - Recovery days must account for combined training load
